Define Blogging
Many define weblogs from its word web and log, which is more like an online diary or activity. Today, blogging becomes so much more… You can even add songs, video and games to blogs. All you need to do is copy the html code like for youtube, you need to copy the embed code and insert it in the html section for your blog.
Define Blogging
A blog (a contraction of the term "Web log") is a web site, usually maintained by an individual with regular entries of commentary, descriptions, and/or other material e.g. graphics or video. Posts are often shown with the latest first. The term "Blog" is most often used as a verb, "to blog" or "blogging", meaning to maintain or update a blog. With the coming about of video blogging, the word blog has taken on an even looser meaning: that of any bit of media wherein the subject expresses an opinion.
How long has blogging been around?
An early instance may very well be something called Kakheperresenb’s Complaint, written by none other than the Egyptian scribe Kakheperresenb himself. Kakheperresenb wrote possibly the first recorded blog entry in history circa 2000 BC. Bear in mind that he didn’t have anywhere near the resources that we have today and his audience was probably limited, considering the fact that most of the population was illiterate.
Blogs started out, essentially as personal diaries or scrapbooks, they can be very fun to create and to read. A personal blog is almost always set up to give the author a place to share their opinion on everything, the post subjects’ change every time, depending on day, mood, events… Personal censorship and reason are the main limiting factors of these posts. Blogs give people a license to whinge about their unhappiness in life, or whatever they want.
There are now tools which are freely available allowing most people to set up blogs very quickly. There is Wordpress, blogger from Google and other smaller but powerful software that you can download and get going.
Almost no knowledge of the subject is needed to blog, site users can share their opinion and read reader’s views. Blog scripts can easily, and automatically order posts into sections called categories, and store old or out-of-date posts.

Typical blogs show combined medias, while at the same time, linking to other blogs. Giving readers the ability to publicly express themselves plays a very important role for many blogs. Generally blogs are primarily textual. However some focus on art (artlog), photographs (photoblog), videos (vlog), music (MP3 blog), which are part of a wider network of social media. Micro-blogging is one other type of blogging, which consists of blogs with many, short posts, similar to a concise diary.
Since December 2007, blog search engine Technorati has been tracking more than 112 million blogs. Blogs are ranked by Technorati based on the amount of hyperlinks to the blog.
